Got this book with my Owlcrate subscription. The cover art and book itself is stunning. I enjoyed the apothecary and the little lessons about plants and mythology.
Warning: there’s a cliff hanger ending. I personally prefer waiting for a series to be complete before I dive into it, so that was a downside for me. Not a deal breaker at all. I know that's done to generate excitement and intrigue.
It is a very easy read. Not too complicated. At times I did feel like I was reading a middle grade book, not a Young Adult. For instance some situations just happen to work out flawlessly.
If you’re a fan of mysterious old houses, ancient family secrets, and witchy magic, give it a try.
